Estimate from your area labor rates and part prices. How we got this › Prices updated October 2026. No real quotes behind this range yet: it is an estimate from public wage data and our own part price bands.

How the verdict works

Each price is compared to a typical range for that job in your area: parts low and high, plus labor hours times the local labor rate, plus fees. See the full method.

  • Low price: below the typical range. Make sure it covers the full job.
  • Low end: in the bottom quarter of the range.
  • Fair price: the middle half of the range.
  • High end: in the top quarter of the range. Ask what is included.
  • A bit high: up to 20% over the top of the range.
  • Way high: more than 20% over. Ask for an explanation or a second quote.
  • Above our estimate: used instead of Way high when the range is wide (the top is 3x the bottom or more). We are less sure, so we say so.

A verdict is about the price, never about the shop. We do not name shops. Not a repair shop, estimates only. Estimate for information only. Not a quote, not a repair shop, not legal advice. Actual prices vary by car, parts and shop.
